The AvesWeb Project
This unique project is developing what will become the world’s most comprehensive and easily accessible information resource for birds. Each of the 9800+ species already has its own pre-set template, which will be updated as our master bird list changes, including areas for photographs and artwork, and covering information on key identification criteria including seasonal and juvenile plumage differences, geographical distribution, habitat, call, song and sub-species.
You can upload photographs and artwork and contribute written sections for the other categories. To contribute to the project simply search for the species by all or part of its latin or english name and click the edit link next to the section you wish to amend. This will take you to an editor for you to enter your text. When you are happy with your text simply click on the Save Page button.
Your contributions are subject to our Terms and Conditions, but will be acknowledged on-site.
The plan is to eventually cover all the worlds’ species; making this the most comprehensive ornithological on-line resource available anywhere in the world….and it will be yours, because you will help to create it.
As this evolves, we will be looking for moderators to supervise each group of species. After you have made your first 5-10 species contributions, you may volunteer as a moderator for a species group and can do so by emailing us at mailto:director@mybirdlists.com.
